Poolside Chat: Beata Nelson and Natalie Coughlin

Beata Nelson: Hey Natalie! Thanks for joining me today. It’s such an honor to chat with one of the legends of swimming!

Natalie Coughlin: The honor is mine, Beata! Watching your performances in the pool has been fantastic. You’ve been tearing it up lately! How have you been feeling?

Beata Nelson: Thanks so much! I’ve been feeling great, really focused on pushing my limits. Those early morning practices are killer, but it’s worth it. How did you manage to stay so consistent throughout your career?

Natalie Coughlin: Oh, those early mornings never get easier, but they’re key. I always tried to keep a good balance between training hard and making time for recovery. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and that mindset really helped me keep going.

Beata Nelson: That’s such good advice. Speaking of balancing things, how did you find the time for other passions? I know you’re into gardening and cooking. I swear, your Instagram posts make me hungry every time!

Natalie Coughlin: Haha, glad you like them! Gardening and cooking are my escapes from the pool and the physical grind. Finding hobbies that refresh your mind is crucial. What about you? Any hobbies outside swimming?

Beata Nelson: Definitely! I love painting and sketching. It’s such a great way to relax and take my mind off intense training. Plus, it keeps my creative side alive, which is super important to me.

Natalie Coughlin: That’s wonderful! Creativity can really complement the focus and discipline we need in sports. Speaking of focus, what are your goals looking like for the next season?

Beata Nelson: Well, I’m really aiming to shave off those last few milliseconds in my 100 backstroke. Breaking barriers, you know? And maybe, fingers crossed, eyeing some records. What about you? Any plans or projects on the horizon?

Natalie Coughlin: That sounds exciting! For me, it’s all about staying connected to the sport and inspiring the next generation. Plus, I’m working on some new recipes and garden projects. You have to visit my garden sometime; it’s my little paradise.

Beata Nelson: I’d love that! Maybe we can even collaborate on a healthy swimmer’s cookbook or something. You bring the recipes, and I’ll bring the art. What do you say?

Natalie Coughlin: That sounds like a blast! Let’s keep that in mind. Keep killing it in the pool, Beata. You’re doing amazing things!

Beata Nelson: Thanks, Natalie! You’ve always been such an inspiration. Catch you later!
