An Imaginary Discussion: Brandon Roy and Damian Lillard Talk Hoops and Life

Brandon Roy: Yo Dame, what’s up, man?

Damian Lillard: B-Roy! Just out here grindin’, you know? How you been?

Brandon Roy: Doing well, just enjoying the retired life. Coaching a bit here and there, spending time with the fam. How are things on the Rip City front?

Damian Lillard: It’s been a journey, for sure. Always trying to take the team to the next level. You know how it is.

Brandon Roy: Absolutely. I remember those days, trying to shoulder the load and make things happen. What’s the vibe like with the new guys?

Damian Lillard: We got a lot of young talent. Sharp shooters, strong defenders. Kind of reminds me of when you were leading, how you balanced everything.

Brandon Roy: Appreciate that. You know, it’s all about chemistry. I think back to LaMarcus and those early days. We had such a good balance.

Damian Lillard: Yeah, LaMarcus was a beast. Speaking of balance, how was the transition for you, going from an All-Star to coaching?

Brandon Roy: It was tough at first, not gonna lie. But I found a new love for the game, teaching the next generation. Watching them grow is something special.

Damian Lillard: For sure. I can only imagine the patience that takes. Any advice for me as I try to mentor these young guns?

Brandon Roy: Just be yourself, man. You’ve got that leadership quality. Be open, be approachable. They look up to you more than you can imagine.

Damian Lillard: Thanks, B-Roy. That means a lot coming from you. So, when are we gonna see you back in Portland more often?

Brandon Roy: You never know, Dame. Portland’s always in my heart. Who knows? Maybe a visit or two to give you guys some pointers.

Damian Lillard: We’d love that. The city misses you, man. You’re a legend to all of us.

Brandon Roy: Appreciate it, Dame. Keep holding it down out there. I’m always cheering for you guys.

Damian Lillard: Will do, B-Roy. Catch you later!
