Inside the Minds: Cotie McMahon Chats with Sue Bird

Sue Bird: So, Cotie! It’s fantastic to finally sit down and chat with you. You’ve been making waves on and off the court. How are you handling all the buzz?

Cotie McMahon: Thanks, Sue! It’s a bit surreal, to be honest. I mean, growing up I watched you dominate in the WNBA and now here we are chatting. I’m just trying to stay grounded and keep pushing myself every day.

Sue Bird: That’s a great mentality. Speaking of pushing yourself, what’s one thing you’ve learned this past season that you didn’t expect?

Cotie McMahon: Hm, I’d say the biggest surprise has been how much mental toughness plays into everything. I knew it was important, but dealing with the highs and lows, it’s been eye-opening. And the fans, man, their energy can either lift you or add pressure.

Sue Bird: Oh, the fans are definitely a double-edged sword sometimes! How do you balance the love for the game with all the external expectations?

Cotie McMahon: It’s a work in progress. I try to remind myself why I started playing – because I love it. I’ve got a great support system too, my family, teammates, and coaches who help keep me focused.

Sue Bird: That’s solid advice. Let’s switch gears a bit. I know you’re a powerhouse on the court, but what does Cotie McMahon do off the court for fun?

Cotie McMahon: Oh, you know, typical stuff. I’m a big foodie, so I love trying out new spots with friends. I’m also into music – always got something playing whether I’m chilling at home or driving around. Reading is a good escape too.

Sue Bird: A fellow bookworm! What’s the latest book you’ve read?

Cotie McMahon: Just finished “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. It’s all about following your dreams, really resonated with me.

Sue Bird: Love that book! It’s timeless. OK, last question – what’s next for Cotie McMahon?

Cotie McMahon: Honestly, I’m just focused on getting better and seizing every opportunity. Whether it’s on the court or contributing to the community, I want to make a positive impact. And hey, maybe one day we’ll get a one-on-one game in!

Sue Bird: I’m always up for a challenge! Keep shining, Cotie. The future is bright with you leading the way.

Cotie McMahon: Thanks, Sue. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
