An Epic Courtside Chat: Eddie Jones and Ray Allen
Eddie Jones: Hey Ray! Long time no see, man. Looking sharp as always. How’s retirement treating you?
Ray Allen: Eddie! Good to see you, brother. Retirement’s been a blast. I’ve been spending a lot of time with family and, believe it or not, picking up golf. What about you?
Eddie Jones: Golf, huh? Nice! I’ve been staying involved with the game, mentoring young players, and doing some commentary here and there. Trying to keep busy, you know.
Ray Allen: That’s awesome, man. You’ve always had a great basketball mind. Speaking of which, remember those battles we used to have on the court? Crazy times!
Eddie Jones: Oh, absolutely! I remember you draining those threes like it was nothing. We had some epic face-offs. Good times, indeed. What’s the biggest difference you’ve noticed in today’s game compared to when we played?
Ray Allen: The pace for one. Faster and more about spacing and shooting now. The three-pointer has become the central focus. I mean, we shot our fair share of threes, but these guys are taking it to a whole new level!
Eddie Jones: No doubt about it. It’s like a three-point shootout every night. Defensive schemes have had to evolve a lot, too. Speaking of defense, I have to say, locking down some of those star guards back in our day was an art form.
Ray Allen: Oh, for sure. Your defense was legendary, Eddie. I knew I had to bring my A-game whenever we matched up. Who do you see as a standout defender in the league right now?
Eddie Jones: Appreciate that, Ray. Right now, I’d say guys like Kawhi Leonard and Draymond Green. They bring that intensity and versatility on the defensive end. They remind me of what we used to bring every night.
Ray Allen: Absolutely. It’s great to see players keeping that defensive spirit alive. By the way, have you thought about coaching? You’ve got the mindset for it, man.
Eddie Jones: Funny you mention that. I’ve been considering it. Seeing the game from a different perspective these days has given me a lot of ideas. It’d be an exciting new challenge.
Ray Allen: You’d be amazing at it. I’d love to see what you could do with a team. Just promise me one thing: keep them away from those corner threes if I’m around! (laughs)
Eddie Jones: (laughs) Ray, with you on the court, that’s a tall order. But I’ll keep it in mind. It’s been great catching up, man. Let’s not wait so long next time!
Ray Allen: Definitely. Always good to chat, Eddie. Take care, brother. Let’s hit the links sometime soon!
Eddie Jones: You’re on! Catch you later, Ray.
And with that, two legends of the game part ways, but their camaraderie and respect for each other linger, just like their legacy on the court.
