Inside the Game: A Chat with Georgia Amoore and Coach Kenny Brooks
Kenny Brooks: So, Georgia, you’re really lighting up the court this season. Your 3-point shots are becoming legendary. What’s your secret?
Georgia Amoore: (laughs) Coach, you’ve seen me work on those shots countless times. But honestly, it’s about confidence and repetition. You know that “shooter’s touch” everyone talks about?
Kenny Brooks: Absolutely. We always preach practice, but you’ve taken it to another level. Was there a moment when you felt your shooting just clicked?
Georgia Amoore: That’s a good question. I think it was during that game against Louisville last season. I hit a few crucial shots under pressure, and something just clicked in my mind. It was like, “Okay, I can do this.”
Kenny Brooks: I remember that game. You were on fire! But it’s not just the shooting; your court vision and playmaking have been incredible. Do you model your game after anyone?
Georgia Amoore: Growing up, I’d watch Steph Curry and Diana Taurasi a lot. Their ability to control the game and make clutch plays is something I aspire to. Plus, that fearless mentality – that’s key.
Kenny Brooks: Great choices. Both are legends in their own right. Speaking of fearless mentality, do you have any pre-game rituals to get into that zone?
Georgia Amoore: Oh, definitely. I have this playlist that’s a mix of Aussie rock and hip-hop to hype me up. And I always lace up my right shoe first. Just a little superstition.
Kenny Brooks: Never underestimate the power of music and superstition! (laughs) How about off the court? What does Georgia Amoore do to unwind?
Georgia Amoore: Honestly, I love cooking. It’s therapeutic. And I’m big on exploring new recipes. But if I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me binge-watching some crime dramas or catching up on my favorite podcasts.
Kenny Brooks: Cooking – now that’s something we didn’t know about you! Anything you’ve mastered in the kitchen?
Georgia Amoore: I make a mean spaghetti carbonara. Simple but so good. Oh, and my choc-chip cookies are pretty famous among my teammates.
Kenny Brooks: We might need to have a team dinner with you as the chef. (winks) Alright, before we wrap up, any advice for young players who look up to you?
Georgia Amoore: I’d say, always believe in yourself and don’t be afraid to put in the hard work. Embrace the grind, and remember, it’s the little things that make a difference. And most importantly, have fun with it!
Kenny Brooks: Wise words, Georgia. Thanks for the chat. Looking forward to seeing more of those legendary 3-pointers this season!
Georgia Amoore: Thanks, Coach! Always a pleasure.
