Inside the Huddle: Jalen Hurts Chats with Nick Saban
Jalen Hurts: Hey Coach Saban! It’s been a minute since Bama days. How’s it going?
Nick Saban: Jalen! It’s great to see you. I’ve been good, busy with the new season. You seem to be thriving out there in Philly!
Jalen Hurts: Yeah, man, it’s been quite a ride. You know, just trying to keep my head down and grind every day. Philly fans are passionate, keeps me on my toes.
Nick Saban: Passionate is putting it lightly. I remember the intensity you brought to every practice, always pushing the team harder. How are you balancing the leadership role now in the NFL?
Jalen Hurts: It’s definitely a learning curve, but I’ve taken a lot of what you taught me to heart. Communication and staying calm under pressure are key. Plus, having a great team around makes my job easier.
Nick Saban: That’s the right attitude. You were always focused and adaptable. What’s been the biggest adjustment for you transitioning to the NFL level?
Jalen Hurts: Honestly, the speed of the game and the complexity of the defenses. Every team’s bringing something new to the table each week. I’ve had to become a student of the game all over again, but I love it. Keeps me sharp.
Nick Saban: That’s the NFL – never a dull moment. Speaking of staying sharp, have you brought any Bama traditions or routines with you to Philly?
Jalen Hurts: Absolutely. The discipline and the preparation. I still use a lot of the techniques we used back in college. Oh, and I’ve made sure the locker room appreciates a good Southern home-cooked meal every once in a while.
Nick Saban: (laughs) Keeping them well-fed, huh? That’s smart. You always had that leadership quality, making sure the team feels like a family.
Jalen Hurts: Family’s everything, Coach. Speaking of, any advice for a young quarterback trying to make his mark and earn his stripes in the league?
Nick Saban: Just stay true to yourself, Jalen. You’ve got the talent, but it’s your work ethic and character that will set you apart. Keep leading by example and never stop learning.
Jalen Hurts: Thanks, Coach. That means a lot coming from you. Always appreciate your wisdom.
Nick Saban: Anytime, Jalen. We’re all rooting for you back here in Tuscaloosa. Keep making us proud.
Jalen Hurts: Will do, Coach. Roll Tide!
Nick Saban: Roll Tide!
