Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Talks Tennis, Training, and a Slice of Life with Roger Federer

Roger Federer: Jo-Wilfried! Long time no see. How’s retirement treating you?

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga: Roger, my man! Retirement’s been a wild ride, honestly. Can’t say I miss those brutal training sessions, but I definitely miss the court and the competition. How about you? Enjoying the slower pace?

Roger Federer: (laughs) Well, “slower” is relative when you’ve got four kids running around! But yes, it’s been nice to take a step back. I’ve been doing some commentary and plenty of charity work. Keeping busy in a different way, you know?

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga: Oh, I hear you! I’ve been diving into a lot of charity work myself, especially focused on getting more kids into tennis. It’s such a rewarding feeling. Speaking of kids, my son Sugar is already showing a bit of interest in picking up a racket. Maybe we’ll have another Tsonga on the circuit someday!

Roger Federer: That’s fantastic! I always say tennis is a family affair. It’s great to see the next generation already getting inspired. Any plans to coach in the future?

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga: I’m definitely considering it. There’s something magical about sharing your knowledge and experiences with young talents. Plus, I think there’s still so much I can contribute to the sport. What about you? Any coaching aspirations?

Roger Federer: I wouldn’t rule it out. Right now, I’m enjoying the more relaxed side of life, but who knows? Maybe one day, I’ll find myself back on the court, coaching the next big thing.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga: Let’s face it, Roger—we’re tennis lifers. Even if we’re not playing, we’ll always be around the sport in some capacity. Say, how do you keep yourself in shape these days? Do you still swing the racket now and then?

Roger Federer: Absolutely! I’ve got a mini-tennis court at home, so I sneak in a game or two with my kids. And of course, I hit the gym to stay in shape. Old habits die hard, right?

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga: (laughs) Totally! I’ve been mixing it up with some different sports too—bit of soccer, basketball. It’s great to stay active without the pressure of tournaments.

Roger Federer: Definitely! And who knows? Maybe someday we’ll have a legendary doubles match—two retired legends back in action. What do you say?

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga: (smiles) You’ve got yourself a deal, Roger. Let’s give the fans something to cheer about once more!

Roger Federer: It’s a plan, Jo. Looking forward to it!

Stay tuned for more from these tennis greats, both on and off the court!
