In Conversation with Jordan Horston: Balancing College Basketball and Life

Chris Paul: Hey Jordan, it’s great to finally sit down and chat with you. Congrats on your stellar season! How are you feeling?

Jordan Horston: Thanks, Chris! It’s been a whirlwind, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We’ve had our ups and downs, but I feel like it’s all part of the journey, you know?

Chris Paul: Absolutely, I can relate to that. Balance is key. Speaking of which, how do you manage juggling basketball with your college studies? Must be challenging.

Jordan Horston: Oh, you have no idea! My planner is my best friend. I schedule everything, from practice to study time, to hangouts with friends. It’s a balancing act, but staying organized helps a lot.

Chris Paul: I hear you. During my college days, I had to do the same. But tell me, what’s your go-to activity when you’re not on the court or in the classroom?

Jordan Horston: Honestly, I love just chilling with a good book or catching up on my favorite shows. Lately, I’ve been really into cooking. It’s so therapeutic, trying out new recipes and stuff.

Chris Paul: That’s awesome! Cooking is such a great skill to have. What’s your signature dish?

Jordan Horston: Right now, it’s gotta be my homemade pasta. It’s a game-changer! Everyone loves it.

Chris Paul: I’ll have to get the recipe from you! Speaking of games, what’s your mindset heading into each game? Any pre-game rituals or routines?

Jordan Horston: I try to stay as focused as possible. Music is a big part of my pre-game routine, really gets me in the zone. And I always remember why I’m playing – for my team, my family, and myself.

Chris Paul: That’s powerful, Jordan. Keeping the ‘why’ in mind is so important. Lastly, what advice would you give to young athletes aspiring to play at the college level?

Jordan Horston: I’d say, work hard and stay true to yourself. There will be tough times, but it’s all about how you handle them. And don’t forget to enjoy the journey, every step of the way.

Chris Paul: Great advice. Thanks for sharing your insights, Jordan. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors both on and off the court.

Jordan Horston: Thanks, Chris! Appreciate the chat. Let’s do this again sometime!
