An Engaging Conversation Between Mark Jackson and Stephen Curry
Mark Jackson: Stephen! It’s always a pleasure catching up with you. It feels like just yesterday I was coaching you, and now you’re breaking records left and right. How’s everything going?
Stephen Curry: Hey, Coach! It’s great to see you. Things are good, just trying to stay in the zone and push our team to new heights every season. It’s funny, I still hear your voice in my head sometimes during games, guiding me on those plays.
Mark Jackson: (laughs) I’m glad to hear that! I knew you had something special from day one. You’ve revolutionized the game with your three-point shooting. Did you ever imagine it would lead to this kind of impact?
Stephen Curry: Honestly, no. I mean, I always wanted to be great, but the way the game has evolved… it’s surreal. Seeing kids pull up from deep like it’s nothing and knowing I had a hand in that, it’s just wild.
Mark Jackson: You’ve definitely inspired an entire generation. Speaking of inspiration, who were the players that you looked up to when you were starting out? Aside from your dad, of course.
Stephen Curry: Oh, man. There were so many. I’d say Steve Nash was a big inspiration. His vision, his handles, the way he could create for his team – I tried to take a lot from his game. And of course, guys like Reggie Miller and Ray Allen for their shooting prowess.
Mark Jackson: Great choices. Nash had some of the craziest court vision I’ve ever seen, and you definitely picked up a thing or two from the sharpshooting legends. By the way, have you added any new tricks or routines to your practice to keep that shooting arm in top shape?
Stephen Curry: (smiling) You know me, always tinkering with something. I’ve been working on quick release drills and off-balance shots a lot more. Trying to stay ahead of defenses that are always adjusting. And, of course, the conditioning never stops – gotta keep these legs fresh.
Mark Jackson: It’s paying off, that’s for sure. I’ve always admired your dedication and drive. Before we wrap this up, if you could give one piece of advice to young players dreaming of making it big, what would it be?
Stephen Curry: That’s a tough one. But I’d say, never underestimate the power of hard work and persistence. And enjoy the journey. When you love what you do, it never feels like work. Stay humble, stay hungry, and keep pushing your limits.
Mark Jackson: Wise words, Stephen. Thanks for taking the time to chat. I’m looking forward to seeing what you accomplish next. Keep lighting up that scoreboard!
Stephen Curry: Thanks, Coach! Always a pleasure. And don’t be a stranger – we could use some of that Jackson wisdom around here!
