An Engaging Conversation with Roland Schoeman and Michael Phelps
Roland Schoeman: Hey Michael, it’s great to catch up with you! It’s been a while since we last got the chance to chat. What’s been keeping you busy these days?
Michael Phelps: Hey Roland, always good to see you! I’ve been focusing a lot on my mental health advocacy work and spending quality time with the family. How about you? Still breaking records and pushing boundaries?
Roland Schoeman: You bet! I can’t seem to slow down. I’m constantly looking for new challenges, whether it’s in the pool or out of it. Lately, I’ve been getting into some coaching and motivational speaking. It’s been quite the ride!
Michael Phelps: That’s awesome, man. You were always one to inspire both in and out of the water. Speaking of which, do you miss the adrenaline of race day?
Roland Schoeman: Oh, absolutely. There’s nothing like the roar of the crowd and the thrill of competition. But I’ve found that channeling that energy into helping others achieve their goals is just as rewarding. How about you? Do you ever feel the itch to jump back into the pool?
Michael Phelps: Sometimes. But I’m content with where I’m at now. Watching the next generation of swimmers step up and knowing we had a part in paving the way is pretty satisfying. By the way, Roland, your sprint technique was always top-notch. Any secrets to your success you’d care to share?
Roland Schoeman: Haha, you flatter me, Michael. I guess it comes down to a mix of relentless practice, a strong mental game, and always staying curious. Never settling for ‘good enough’ has kept me striving for excellence. What about your legendary underwaters? Those were next-level!
Michael Phelps: Thanks, man. I spent countless hours honing that aspect of my race. I always believed that the more you put in, the more you get out. That’s a principle that holds true in and out of the pool. So, what’s the next big thing on Roland Schoeman’s agenda?
Roland Schoeman: I’m really excited about expanding my coaching clinics internationally and working on a new book. It’s all about the warrior mentality and pushing past perceived limits. How about you, Michael? Any upcoming projects we should look out for?
Michael Phelps: I’m working on a few documentaries around mental health and continuing to raise awareness through my foundation. It’s about making a difference and leaving a legacy that matters. You know how it is.
Roland Schoeman: Totally. It’s about more than just medals. It’s about impact. Well, Michael, it’s been epic catching up. Let’s do this more often, yeah?
Michael Phelps: Definitely, Roland. Take care, and keep breaking those barriers!
Roland Schoeman: You too, Michael. Until next time!
