An Engaging Chat with Sally Kipyego and Eliud Kipchoge

Eliud Kipchoge: Sally, it’s always a breath of fresh air catching up with you. How’s everything going? Keeping up with those intense training sessions, I bet?

Sally Kipyego: Haha, Eliud, you know me! I just can’t stay away from the track. Speaking of which, I saw your last marathon. Incredible as always…sub-two hours, really?

Eliud Kipchoge: Thank you, Sally! It was a journey, but you know how it is. It’s all about consistency and mindset. Speaking of journeys, how’s life in the US been treating you? Balancing family, training, and coaching must be quite the adventure.

Sally Kipyego: Absolutely! The US has been great—different challenges, sure, but it’s all part of the growth. My little girl keeps me on my toes, and balancing it all does feel like running a marathon sometimes.

Eliud Kipchoge: I can only imagine. You’ve always been a master of balance, though. How do you manage to stay so motivated through everything? You’ve had quite the career—from track championships to half marathons and marathons.

Sally Kipyego: I think it’s the love for the sport and the desire to push my limits. Plus, there’s so much satisfaction in seeing others succeed—coaching has given me a whole new perspective. What about you, Eliud? What keeps you going?

Eliud Kipchoge: It’s similar for me. The love of the sport, the constant quest for improvement, and inspiring the next generation. Speaking of the next generation, have you been involved in any projects back home in Kenya?

Sally Kipyego: Oh, absolutely. I’m working on initiatives to support young athletes, particularly girls, to give them opportunities and resources to pursue their dreams. It’s fulfilling work.

Eliud Kipchoge: That’s incredible, Sally. Your work is truly inspiring. The young athletes in Kenya are lucky to have someone like you looking out for them. Maybe we should team up sometime and create something big together for our communities!

Sally Kipyego: I’d love that, Eliud. Imagine what we could achieve together! Let’s definitely make it happen. Until then, let’s keep running our races, both on and off the track.

Eliud Kipchoge: Absolutely, Sally. To new goals and endless possibilities!

Sally Kipyego: To new goals and endless possibilities, indeed!
