Courtside Chat with Voshon Lenard and Chris Bosh
Chris Bosh: Yo, Voshon! It’s been a minute. How’ve you been, my man?
Voshon Lenard: Chris! I’m good, I’m good. Just enjoying the retired life, you know? How about you? Staying busy, I see.
Chris Bosh: Definitely. Between spending time with the family, promoting my book, and a little broadcasting work, I keep myself busy. So, tell me, what have you been up to since hanging up the jersey?
Voshon Lenard: Ah, you know, just keeping it cool. I’ve been doing some youth coaching and mentoring, trying to give back a bit. It’s really rewarding to see young kids develop their game.
Chris Bosh: I hear you. That must be pretty fulfilling. You had a killer jumper, man. Are you passing on that knowledge to the young shooters out there?
Voshon Lenard: For sure. I always tell them, consistency and practice are key. You know how it is, you don’t just wake up and shoot 40% from three. It’s all about putting in the work every day.
Chris Bosh: Absolutely. You were always one of the purest shooters. Speaking of which, how do you think the game’s evolved since your playing days?
Voshon Lenard: Man, it’s a whole new ball game. The three-point shot is king now. When I played, it was important, but now it’s like every position is expected to shoot from deep. The pace is faster, too. More run-and-gun style.
Chris Bosh: Yeah, the game’s definitely sped up. But that spacing opens up so many opportunities. If only we had that spacing back then, right?
Voshon Lenard: No doubt! I think about how many more open looks I could’ve gotten with today’s spacing and pace. But hey, every era has its own style.
Chris Bosh: True that. So, if you had to pick one current player whose game you admire, who would it be?
Voshon Lenard: That’s a tough one. But I’d probably go with Steph Curry. His shooting is unreal, and he’s changed the way the game is played. It’s incredible to watch.
Chris Bosh: Steph is a magician with the ball. Speaking of magicians, you had some amazing seasons with the Miami Heat. Any favorite memories from your time in Miami?
Voshon Lenard: Oh man, so many great memories. But winning the Three-Point Contest in 2004 has to be up there. And of course, the playoff runs we had. The Miami crowd is something special.
Chris Bosh: Miami fans are definitely passionate. That Three-Point Contest was legendary! You had the entire arena on their feet.
Voshon Lenard: Good times, brother. Good times. So, what’s next for Chris Bosh? Any new projects on the horizon?
Chris Bosh: Always cooking something up, you know me. I’m looking at some more community work and maybe dipping back into some basketball-related ventures. Gotta keep the legacy alive.
Voshon Lenard: That sounds awesome, man. Well, it’s been great catching up, Chris. Next time you’re in town, we gotta hit the court for old times’ sake.
Chris Bosh: You know it! Take care, Voshon. Keep inspiring those shooters out there.
Voshon Lenard: Will do. Peace, bro.
