Carla Ward and Alex Green Discuss Coaching, Challenges, and Future Ambitions

Alex: Hey Carla, thanks for taking the time to chat! How’s everything going on your end?

Carla: Hi Alex! It’s a pleasure. Things are busy as always, but I can’t complain. We’re in the middle of a pretty intense training season, and the energy is incredible.

Alex: That’s fantastic! Your work with the team has been nothing short of inspiring. Speaking of energy, what’s your secret for keeping the morale high even during tough times?

Carla: Oh, it’s a mix of things. I believe in open communication and making sure everyone feels heard. I also incorporate a lot of team-building activities outside of the typical training. A happy team off the pitch translates to better performance on the pitch.

Alex: Absolutely! Building that sense of community must be vital. What would you say has been your biggest challenge as a coach so far?

Carla: That’s a great question. I think balancing individual player needs with the team’s overall goals is always tricky. Every player has their own strengths, weaknesses, and aspirations. Ensuring that everyone is progressing while also keeping the team cohesive requires a lot of finesse and patience.

Alex: It definitely sounds challenging. On the flip side, what’s been your proudest moment?

Carla: There have been so many, but I’d say watching the team bounce back after a tough loss and seeing them lift a trophy they’ve worked so hard for is indescribable. It’s in those moments of resilience that I see the true spirit of the team. It makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Alex: Speaking of hard work and resilience, how do you keep yourself motivated and continuously growing as a coach?

Carla: I’m a huge believer in lifelong learning. Whether it’s through certifications, attending workshops, or even just watching games at various levels, I’m always trying to absorb as much as I can. Plus, I’m surrounded by a fantastic support system that keeps me grounded and motivated.

Alex: That’s an admirable approach, Carla. Lastly, what’s next for you and the team? Any big goals or exciting projects on the horizon?

Carla: Well, without giving too much away, we’re focusing on refining our strategy and building on the momentum we’ve gained. Personally, I’m working on a couple of initiatives aimed at youth development in the sport. It’s something I’m really passionate about.

Alex: That sounds amazing! I can’t wait to see what you and the team accomplish next. Thanks again for chatting with me, Carla. Always a pleasure.

Carla: Thank you, Alex! It’s been great. Here’s to all the exciting things ahead!
