A Casual Chat with Barron Mamiya and Kelly Slater

Barron Mamiya: What’s up, Kelly? Long time no see. I heard you were tearing it up in the Maldives recently. How was it?

Kelly Slater: Hey, Barron! Yeah, man, the Maldives were epic. Perfect barrels and crystal-clear water. It’s like heaven on Earth. How about you? How’s the North Shore treating you?

Barron Mamiya: North Shore’s been firing lately. Got some of the best waves I’ve had all year. Pipeline was just going off. There’s nothing like that adrenaline rush you get when you’re deep in the barrel, you know?

Kelly Slater: Absolutely, Pipeline can be mystical. Speaking of barrels, I saw your recent clip at Teahupo’o. That drop was insane. How do you stay so calm in those gnarly conditions?

Barron Mamiya: Thanks, man. I guess it’s all about finding that state of flow. When you paddle for a heavy wave like that, you can’t let fear take over. It’s just you and the ocean, and everything else fades away.

Kelly Slater: True words, for sure. So, what’s coming up next for you? Any big competitions or trips planned?

Barron Mamiya: I’m heading to Tahiti next for a big event. Super stoked for it. And after that, who knows? I’m just chasing waves and living the dream. How about you? Any secret spots you’re planning to hit up?

Kelly Slater: Ah, Tahiti is going to be sick! As for me, I’m thinking of hitting Indonesia next. Some friends told me about this lesser-known break that’s supposed to be incredible. Can’t wait to check it out.

Barron Mamiya: Sounds epic! Let’s link up for a session someday. We could exchange some tips and maybe catch a few bombs together. What do you say?

Kelly Slater: For sure, Barron! Always down to share waves and stoke with a fellow surfer. Let’s make it happen. Keep charging, and I’ll see you out there!

Barron Mamiya: You too, Kelly. Catch you on the flip side!
