Scott Stallings Chats with PGA Tour Legend, Phil Mickelson
Scott Stallings: Hey Phil! Thanks for taking the time to catch up with me. How’s everything going with you?
Phil Mickelson: Hey Scott, always a pleasure! Things are great, you know, just navigating through this ever-exciting journey of professional golf. How about you? How are things on your end?
Scott Stallings: Couldn’t be better! Staying focused and putting in the work. I’ve been playing some pretty consistent golf lately, and feeling really good about my game.
Phil Mickelson: That’s awesome to hear. Consistency is key, and you’ve definitely been showing that on the course. What’s been your main focus in practice recently?
Scott Stallings: I’ve been working a lot on my short game. Trying to get better around the greens, you know? A solid short game can make or break our rounds.
Phil Mickelson: Absolutely. It’s one of the most crucial aspects. You know, I’ve always believed in the philosophy of leaving no stone unturned. Every little chip and putt counts just as much as a 300-yard drive.
Scott Stallings: That’s some sage advice right there, Phil. Speaking of advice, you’re known for being quite the strategist. What’s your go-to strategy when you’re under pressure in a big tournament?
Phil Mickelson: Funny you should ask. I always try to stay in the moment. I focus on one shot at a time and visualize where I want the ball to go. Keeps the nerves in check and my head clear.
Scott Stallings: Visualization, that’s a powerful tool. I’ve been incorporating that a lot more in my pre-shot routine. Do you have any specific mental exercises you do to stay sharp?
Phil Mickelson: Oh, definitely. I’m a big advocate for meditation and deep breathing exercises. Helps keep the mind calm and composed. Plus, it’s fantastic for overall well-being.
Scott Stallings: Totally agree. I’ve found that a good mental state off the course translates to better performance on the course. By the way, been meaning to ask – have you tried that new fitness regimen that’s been making the rounds?
Phil Mickelson: I’ve heard about it but haven’t dived in yet. You know me, I have my own fitness routine that’s been working well. But I’m always open to new ideas. What about you?
Scott Stallings: I gave it a shot recently. Pretty intense, but I can see the benefits. It’s all about staying flexible and injury-free, especially for us golfers.
Phil Mickelson: Absolutely. Longevity in this sport is so important. Take care of your body, and it’ll take care of you. Looks like you’re already on the right path.
Scott Stallings: Thanks, Phil. It’s been great picking your brain. Always learn something new from our conversations. Catch you on the greens soon?
Phil Mickelson: You bet, Scott. Let’s keep pushing the limits and enjoying the game. See you out there!
