Bobrovsky: Hey Torts, long time no see! How have things been? It’s been a wild ride since we were both with the Blue Jackets.
Tortorella: (laughing) Oh Sergei, it’s always a rollercoaster in this business. You winning the Vezina for the second time and now making those huge saves in Florida—what’s your secret? A new kind of Russian vodka?
Bobrovsky: (grinning) Ha! No secret vodka here, just hard work and staying sharp. Speaking of sharp, I’m still trying to forget those skating drills you had us do back in Columbus. My legs hurt just thinking about it!
Tortorella: (smirking) That’s the old Tortorella charm! Gotta keep you goalies on your toes. You know, I always believed in pushing harder because there’s always that extra level you can reach. And look at you now, proving me right. How’s life in the Sunshine State treating you?
Bobrovsky: Oh, it’s pretty good! I mean, no snow to shovel in December is a nice change of pace. Plus, the fans are great down here. But I have to ask, how’s coaching treating you? Still making everyone do those notorious “bag skates”?
Tortorella: (laughing) Oh, you know it! It keeps the guys in line. But seriously, I’m enjoying the challenges. I get my kicks from developing talent and finding ways to motivate these guys. It’s always a new puzzle.
Bobrovsky: No doubt. And speaking of motivation, I still keep that speech you gave us before the playoff series against Tampa. Goosebumps, man. It’s experiences like those that remind me why we put in the work.
Tortorella: You were a big part of that success, Sergei. That sweep was something special. Sometimes you need those underdog moments to really show the world what you’re made of. And look at us now, reminiscing like old men. Guess we’ve been around the block a few times, huh?
Bobrovsky: More than a few! But hey, that’s what makes the journey worthwhile. From frigid Columbus to sunny Florida, and all the ice rinks in between, it’s good to catch up and remember where we’ve been.
