A Conversation between Bryson Stott and Phillies Legend Chase Utley

Bryson Stott: Man, sitting across from you, Chase, is a pretty surreal experience for me. Growing up, you were one of the players I most looked up to. So, first off, thank you for joining me today!

Chase Utley: Absolutely, Bryson. It’s always great to chat with the next generation of Phillies prospects. Seems like it wasn’t too long ago I was in your shoes.

Bryson Stott: Yeah, I’ve been working hard to follow in some big footsteps. Speaking of which, your dedication and work ethic were legendary. Any advice for someone trying to make their mark in the big leagues?

Chase Utley: One piece of advice I’d give is to stay consistent. Baseball has its ups and downs, but if you focus on your routine and stay disciplined, you’ll be ready when the opportunities come. You’ve got the talent, Bryson—it’s all about harnessing it.

Bryson Stott: That really hits home. I’ve been focusing a lot on consistency, both on and off the field. What about mindset? How did you mentally prepare for games, especially those with high stakes?

Chase Utley: Great question. Mental preparation is key. I always tried to visualize success, whether it was making a clutch hit or turning a double play. I also kept reminding myself that pressure is a privilege—it meant I was in a position to make a difference for my team.

Bryson Stott: “Pressure is a privilege”—I like that. Definitely going to keep that one in my back pocket. How about your favorite moment as a Philly? I know there were a lot, but if you had to pick one…

Chase Utley: Hands down, it’s winning the World Series in 2008. The culmination of all the hard work and being able to celebrate with the city was unforgettable. That unity and team spirit—that’s what it’s all about.

Bryson Stott: A World Series ring—that’s the dream. It’s motivating to hear that from you. Last thing—what do you miss most about playing the game?

Chase Utley: Honestly? The camaraderie. There’s nothing like the bond you build with your teammates, the day-to-day grind, and the pursuit of a common goal. You form a second family. Cherish those moments, Bryson.

Bryson Stott: I definitely will, Chase. Thanks for all the wisdom and for taking the time to chat. It means a lot to me and, I’m sure, to all the fans out there.

Chase Utley: Anytime, Bryson. Keep working hard and representing the Phillies with pride. You’ve got a bright future ahead!
