An Imaginary Chat with Kyle Schwarber and Theo Epstein
Theo Epstein: Hey Kyle, great to see you! So, what’s new in the world of Schwarbs these days?
Kyle Schwarber: Hey Theo! Not much, just living the dream, you know? Working on some new training routines. What about you? How’s life treating the man who broke the Curse?
Theo Epstein: Ha! I’m doing well, thanks. Still looking for the next big challenge. I hear you’ve been crushing it with your new swing mechanics. What’s that all about?
Kyle Schwarber: Yeah, man. I’ve been tweaking my stance and swing path a bit. Trying to stay more balanced and generate more power. You know, always looking for that edge.
Theo Epstein: That’s what I love about you, Kyle. Always pushing forward. By the way, do you miss anything from the days with the Cubs?
Kyle Schwarber: Oh, definitely. The atmosphere, playing at Wrigley, the fans. And those post-game hot dogs! Can’t beat a Chicago dog.
Theo Epstein: (laughs) Classic Schwarber! Speaking of food, have you been experimenting with your diet too? Or still sticking to those power foods?
Kyle Schwarber: A bit of both. I’ve been trying to stay lean but I can’t resist a good steak now and then. Balance, right?
Theo Epstein: Absolutely. Balance is key in everything. So, any goals you’re setting your sight on this season?
Kyle Schwarber: Definitely aiming to hit more dingers, get on base more. But also, I want to be a better teammate, a mentor to the younger guys. Give back some of the wisdom I’ve picked up over the years.
Theo Epstein: That’s the spirit, Kyle. Always inspiring. Any advice for the new rookies coming up?
Kyle Schwarber: Just remember why you love the game. It’s easy to get caught up in the pressure, but if you play with passion and heart, everything else falls into place. And maybe avoid my rookie haircut mistake!
Theo Epstein: (laughs) I remember that! Great advice, Kyle. Keep smashing it out there, and let’s catch up again soon. Maybe over a Chicago dog?
Kyle Schwarber: You got it, Theo. Thanks for the chat. Missing those old days but loving the new adventures. Cheers!
