An Engaging Conversation: Laura Trott (Kenny) and Chris Hoy

Laura Trott: Hey Chris! Great to see you. How have you been?

Chris Hoy: Hi Laura! I’ve been doing well, thanks. Staying busy with some new cycling projects and, of course, chasing after the kids. How about you? How’s the training and family life?

Laura Trott: Oh, you know how it goes! Balancing the bike and the little ones is like doing an Ironman every day! But I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Chris Hoy: Absolutely! Speaking of family, how do you manage to find time to train at such a high level with two young kids at home?

Laura Trott: It’s definitely a challenge. Jason and I have had to get really creative with our schedules. We’ve mastered the art of the nap time workout. And sometimes, we turn it into a family affair – the kids love being around the bikes!

Chris Hoy: That’s fantastic! Instilling a love for cycling early, huh? Future Olympians in the making?

Laura Trott: Who knows! We’ll see if they catch the bug. No pressure though, haha. It’s just fun seeing them enjoy themselves. What about your kids? Are they leaning toward the track or something different?

Chris Hoy: They enjoy cycling, but they’re pretty into everything at the moment. One day it’s BMX, the next it’s football. I’m just happy they’re active and having a blast.

Laura Trott: That’s what it’s all about! By the way, I remember watching some of your crazy fast sprints. Do you ever miss the intensity of competition?

Chris Hoy: Honestly, sometimes I do. There’s nothing like that rush of adrenaline. But I get my fix through coaching and mentoring now. Seeing young talents develop is incredibly rewarding.

Laura Trott: That’s amazing, passing the torch. I bet your coaching tips are gold! Speaking of tips, you’ve been such an inspiration to so many. Any advice for balancing a high-intensity career with family life?

Chris Hoy: Balance is key. And keeping perspective. It’s important to prioritize what matters most and remember that it’s okay to ask for help. Sometimes we can’t do it all, and that’s perfectly fine.

Laura Trott: So true. And celebrating the small wins along the way too, right?

Chris Hoy: Absolutely! Every little victory counts. And hey, speaking of wins, when’s your next big race?

Laura Trott: Coming up soon! I’m gearing up for the Nationals. It’s going to be tough, but I’m excited to hit the track again.

Chris Hoy: Best of luck, Laura! With your talent and determination, I know you’ll smash it. Can’t wait to cheer you on!

Laura Trott: Thanks, Chris! That means a lot. Let’s catch up again soon. Maybe on a bike this time?

Chris Hoy: Definitely! Take care, Laura. Chat soon!

Laura Trott: You too, Chris. Bye!
