Behind the Mound: A Conversation with Jordan Montgomery

Interviewer (Jane Davis): Hey Jordan! Thanks for sitting down with us today. Let’s dive right into it. What do you think was the most crucial pitch in last night’s game?

Jordan Montgomery: Hey Jane, it’s great to be here. Well, without a doubt, it was the changeup in the seventh inning. The Yankees were starting to rally, and I knew I had to break their momentum. That pitch, man, it felt like magic the moment it left my hand.

Jane: The crowd went wild! Now, switching gears a bit, I heard you’ve got a new ritual before games that includes listening to country music. What’s the story there?

Jordan: Haha, yeah, that’s true. Growing up in South Carolina, country music has always been my go-to. Lately, I’ve been listening to Luke Combs on repeat. There’s something about his lyrics that really gets me in the zone and ready to pitch.

Jane: Luke Combs, good choice! Any particular song that stands out for game-day prep?

Jordan: “Beer Never Broke My Heart” definitely amps me up. It reminds me to have fun and keep things in perspective. Baseball can be so intense, and it’s important to enjoy the game.

Jane: Speaking of enjoyment, how do you like to unwind after a big win?

Jordan: After a good game, I usually grab dinner with some teammates. We’ll hit up a local spot, nothing fancy. Just good food and better company.

Jane: Speaking of teammates, who on the team keeps you laughing the most?

Jordan: Oh, that has to be Miguel Andújar. He’s always pulling pranks and has this infectious energy. Even on a rough day, he somehow gets everyone laughing.

Jane: That’s awesome. Now, looking ahead, what personal goals are you setting for the rest of the season?

Jordan: For me, it’s all about consistency. I want to keep every start strong and help the team any way I can. Of course, sneaking in a few more strikeouts wouldn’t hurt either!

Jane: Spoken like a true pro. Well, Jordan, it’s been great catching up. Any final message for your fans out there?

Jordan: Just a huge thank you for all the support. You guys are the best! Keep cheering us on; it means the world to us players. See you at the ballpark!

Jane: Thanks, Jordan! Best of luck with the rest of the season!

Jordan: Thanks, Jane. Catch you later!
