An Engaging Chat with Romain Bardet and David Millar

David Millar: Hey Romain! Great to catch up with you. How’s everything in the world of cycling? Any new adventures on the horizon?

Romain Bardet: Hey David! Yeah, it’s been a busy season as usual. Right now, I’m focusing on the upcoming races in the Alps. You know how much I love those mountains.

David Millar: Oh, definitely. The Alps are your playground! Speaking of which, you’ve had some epic battles there. Do you have a favorite moment from all those climbs?

Romain Bardet: That’s a tough one! If I had to pick, it would be winning Stage 19 of the 2015 Tour de France. The roar of the crowd on La Toussuire – it was just electrifying! It’s moments like those that make all the hard work worthwhile.

David Millar: Absolutely, I can imagine. You know, one thing I’ve always admired about you is your approach to racing. You seem to have this incredible balance between strategy and sheer passion. How do you maintain that?

Romain Bardet: Haha, thanks! For me, it’s about staying connected to why I started cycling in the first place. I try not to get too wrapped up in the pressures and instead focus on enjoying the ride, literally and figuratively. Plus, having a great team around helps keep things in perspective.

David Millar: Speaking of your team, AG2R La Mondiale to Team DSM, how has the transition been for you?

Romain Bardet: The transition has been really refreshing. It’s given me a new outlook and new dynamics to work with. The support from Team DSM has been fantastic, and I feel like I’m continuing to grow as a rider, which is always the goal.

David Millar: That’s amazing to hear. So, any specific goals for the next season? Maybe another shot at the Tour de France podium?

Romain Bardet: The Tour de France is always in the back of my mind, but I think for now, I’m focusing on consistent performance and maybe snatching a win or two in the mountain stages. And who knows? If everything aligns, a podium finish isn’t out of the question!

David Millar: Well, I have no doubt you’ll continue to inspire and impress. Thanks for the chat, Romain. Best of luck in the Alps and beyond!

Romain Bardet: Thanks, David! Always great catching up with you. Let’s do this again soon!
