Michelle Bartsch-Hackley: Hey Karch! It’s always great catching up with you. So, what’s going on in your world these days?

Karch Kiraly: Michelle! Likewise. It’s been a whirlwind, as usual. Between training sessions, strategy meetings, and scouting new talent, there’s never a dull moment in USA Volleyball. How about you? How’s everything on your end?

Michelle: Oh, you know how it is. A lot of bump, set, spike, repeat! Just finished an intense training camp and looking forward to some downtime. But I’ve got to ask, what’s up with that new serve technique you’ve been developing?

Karch: Ah, you caught that, did you? We’re calling it “The Falcon.” It’s a bit of a hybrid—mixing elements of a jump serve with a float serve. Aiming for unpredictability to catch opponents off-guard. Think you’d want to give it a whirl?

Michelle: The Falcon, huh? I’m intrigued! Unpredictability is right up my alley. I can’t wait to test it out and maybe add my own flair to it. Speaking of new techniques, have you noticed how the younger generation is really embracing tech and analytics in their training?

Karch: Absolutely, and it’s incredibly inspiring. Data is becoming such a crucial part of the game. We’re constantly analyzing everything from serve speeds to player rotations. But let’s not forget, the heart and passion still drive us out there on the court, just like it always has.
