In Conversation with Thaisa Menezes: Setting the Court on Fire

Interviewer: Hey Thaisa, it’s great to have you here! First of all, congratulations on all your achievements. How are you feeling these days?

Thaisa Menezes: Thank you! I’m feeling fantastic. It’s always an honor to talk about volleyball and share my experiences. Life’s been a whirlwind but in the best way possible.

Interviewer: Awesome! So, what’s something about volleyball that you’re absolutely passionate about?

Thaisa Menezes: Oh, where do I start? I love the adrenaline rush during a match–especially those close games where every point counts. It’s electric. And, of course, the teamwork. There’s just something magical about connecting with your teammates without even saying a word, you know?

Interviewer: Absolutely! Speaking of teamwork, what’s one piece of advice you’d give to young players who look up to you?

Thaisa Menezes: Dream big, but never forget the importance of hard work and dedication. Talent can take you places, but perseverance, discipline, and a solid work ethic are what keep you at the top. And always, always support your teammates. Volleyball is a team sport, after all!

Interviewer: Solid advice! Say, if you weren’t a volleyball player, what career do you think you’d be pursuing today?

Thaisa Menezes: Funny you should ask! I actually have a huge passion for music. If I hadn’t gone pro in volleyball, I might have pursued a career as a musician. Maybe a guitarist or even a singer. Who knows? But volleyball has my heart now and always.

Interviewer: Music! That’s fascinating. What kind of music do you enjoy the most?

Thaisa Menezes: I’m pretty eclectic. I love everything from classical to rock, but I have a soft spot for Brazilian music. It’s close to my roots and always lifts my spirit.

Interviewer: Switching gears a bit, how do you handle those really tough losses? Any rituals you follow to bounce back?

Thaisa Menezes: Losses are tough, no doubt. But they’re part of the game. I give myself time to feel the disappointment, then I analyze what went wrong. After that, it’s about setting new goals and training harder. Recovery also involves spending quality time with family and friends; they’re my anchor.

Interviewer: It’s clear how grounded you are. Lastly, any exciting plans or projects you’re working on that you can share with us?

Thaisa Menezes: I’m actually working on a project to promote sports among young girls in underserved communities. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, to give back and inspire the next generation. Stay tuned, because there’s more to come!

Interviewer: That’s fantastic, Thaisa. We’re excited to see what you have in store. Thanks a ton for chatting with us today!

Thaisa Menezes: My pleasure! Thanks for having me. Can’t wait to share more stories and hopefully inspire some future volleyball stars out there!

Interviewer: Cheers to that!
